With the world’s population reaching over 7.7 billion people this year, Santa Claus’s one job of the year of delivering Christmas presents to children around the world is now, sadly, more difficult than ever before. Europa Trust Company tries to answer the question of how Santa can deliver gifts to all the children of the world in one night in time for Christmas.

Each year the task of delivering Christmas gifts to people and children around the world falls on the shoulders on one particular man. While Santa Claus has had the responsibility delivering gifts in time for being opened on Christmas Day for centuries, his task in recent years has become increasingly more difficult.

According to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), there are over 2,2 billion children under age 18 in the world. This figure equates to each global household having on average, 2.5 children.

These newly released figures would require Santa to make 842 million stops on Christmas Eve. Given the different global time zones, Santa has 36 hours to deliver his gifts. In order to achieve this enormous task Santa would need to travel at around 2,200 Kilometers-per-second (1,367 m/s) or less than 1% the speed of light.

With these near impossible speeds and time frame how can Santa really be expected to deliver gifts to all the children of the world?

The proposed answer is that Santa stretches time; much like stretching a rubber band.

A professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering at North Carolina State University, has put forward a theory that Santa uses “relativity clouds” to get the delivering done. Relativity clouds, are based on relative physics, these allow Santa to stretch time which would provide him with months to deliver gifts. While Santa works in his relativity cloud, only a few minutes would pass for the rest of us and this creates the illusion that Santa makes all his deliveries in one single night.

While the scientific theory appears to support how Santa manages to deliver presents to all the children of the world in one night, the Europa team prefer to believe that there is a little Christmas magic to how it is all done.

The Europa Team wishes you and your family a very happy holiday festive season.
