New Chief Executive Officer for the Gibraltar FSC

The Gibraltar Financial Services Commission (FSC) announced the appointment of its new Chief Executive Officer.

Mrs Samatha Barrass will join the FSC on the 17 February 2014 from her current role as an Executive Director of the Solicitors Regulatory Authority (SRA) in England and Wales.

Alan Whiting, the FSC Chairman, said that that Mrs Barrass’s high international reputation and international experience in financial and legal regulation will mean that Gibraltar could look forward to continued growth as a successful, prospering and well regulated financial services sector.

Mrs Barrass herself added: “The Commission rightly enjoys a strong reputation for delivering high quality regulation of Gibraltar’s growing and prosperous financial services sector.”

Mrs Barrass will continue to further develop Gibraltar’s financial services markets and enhance its reputation for excellent regulation of these markets.
