Gibraltar is soon to become an art dealership hub for high-value works of art.

A Pre-Budget announcement by the Gibraltar Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo said the Government will be eliminating import and export duties on the sale of art in all forms as from 1 July 2014.

Mr Picardo made the announcement ahead of his Budget speech to parliament. The announcement of 0% import and export duties on the sale of art already adds to the many benefits Gibraltar offers as an investment jurisdiction for Gibraltar companies previously listed in a newsletter by Europa Trust Company.

In his announcement, Mr Picardo concluded, “We think that, in addition to the absence of capital gains taxes and other fiscal advantages that make us the European jurisdiction of choice in so many areas, this may help stimulate the use of Gibraltar for the acquisition and sale of high value works of art.”
