As previously mentioned in our newsletters, and as part of the firm’s Social Responsibility, Europa Trust Company Ltd. adopted an endangered African penguin, named Douglas, as part of the SANCCOB ‘s “Adopt a Penguin” programme.
This week we were informed that Douglas continues to be “doing well” and is described as “healthy and energetic”.
With the assistance of volunteers and sponsorship from companies such as Europa Trust Company Ltd., SANCCOB provides food, medicine and care to rehabilitate penguins and seabirds back to the wild.
SANCCOB have been without volunteers since mid-March with only four staff members taking care of 34 African penguins undergoing rehabilitation, and more than 50 permanent resident birds. They also admitted 28 chicks in April, have been releasing birds that are healthy and strong back into the sea.
