The Gibraltar Government hosted a financial services event in London highlighting Gibraltar as an international centre for business. Europa Trust Company was invited and attended the event.

On the 21 October 2013, the Government of Gibraltar hosted a finance event in the old library of the Guildhall in London.The Chief Minister of Gibraltar, Fabian Picardo used the event to address 400 senior finance and banking executives about the positive aspects that Gibraltar offers as an international business and finance centre.

During his speech, Mr Picardo said that Gibraltar was ranked in the top 20 in global terms of GDP growth and is placed in the top 4 ranking of GDP per capita. He said that Gibraltar worked to the highest internationally regulatory standards, both in terms of European Union legislation and international regulations.

In his address Mr Picardo reminded attendees that Gibraltar had signed 26 tax information exchange agreements with countries around the world and would soon sign its 27th. He continued to say that Gibraltar had implemented the EU directive on administrative cooperation on tax matters with all 28 member states.Mr Picardo took the opportunity to list additional business aspects that Gibraltar offers. He explained that Gibraltar receives between 10 -12 million tourists a year and has one of the largest ship bunkering ports in the Mediterranean. He told the attendees that this year Gibraltar had hosted events such as an international jazz and an international literary festival.

The event was an opportunity for senior executives of the banking and financial industry to hear the positive aspects that Gibraltar offers as a financial centre and to continue to build relationships with companies represented at the event.
